In my recent trip to chinatown, I was looking for some light ramen to warm me up in this dreaded canadian winter. I stumbled on this packet in a grocery store, on sale for 50 cents.
Fun little remark: in english, the pack says it's sour soup, but in french right under it, it says it's lemon flavour. Anyway, it sure satisfied my cravings!
Now let's see what's in that pack.
Well...except for the noodles, we have...this grainy mess of a packet.
That's it, nothing else! Usually packets with that kind of texture are garlic oil packets, but they usually also have another packet for broth! Oh well that suspicious packet better be filled with some tasty stuff!
Now going back to the noodles. I wanted to point out to you guys how...dark they looked
I've never seen anything like it! And here's what they look like once cooked:
This is JUST the noodles and water. Nothing else was added.
Now it was time to add the mystery packet.
Immediately my nostrils were bombarded with a strong lemongrass smell. I guess that's what the french translation was about...
Don't get me wront, I love lemongrass, but not in such a powerful concentrated smell!

The granules dissolved into this final ramen dish:
Now for the taste...
That red tint doesn't lie: that thing was pretty spicy! But it wasn't overwhelming, I could still taste the lemongrass (or mabe both tastes were so overpowering they ended up complimenting each other?)
Said lemongrass tasted less than it smelled. It really reminded me of a light pho. I added some cilantro to add to that effect.

With some meat and veggies, it could've been pretty good, but I must say as a standalone ramen dish, this was pretty tame.
Final note: 5/10. Almost there, buddy!
